User actions are performed against the application and the performance of the application is measured. One or more additional probes are placed behind the company's firewall to perform identical tests internally, and provide a true application performance benchmark. The results from the external and internal probes are then compared to analyse where the problems that affect end user experience may be, and how to go about resolving them.
