Qualica Mobile Solution
Qualica's Mobile Solution uses the SyncML Over The Air (OTA) functionality of industry compliant cellphones, which synchronises the phone data with Qualica's platform via GPRS (general packet radio service).
Users subscribe to the solution by sending an SMS to a premium rated five digit short code. They are then sent the settings which are saved onto the phone. From there, whenever they wish to back up their information, they simply use the synchronisation menu on their phones. No synchronisation with a PC is required, nor do users have to download any application to the phone.
The solution is a subscription service and typically costs R10 a month, with users able to synchronise as many times as they wish. Qualica's servers not only check the content when a backup is done to verify what content has been updated, but also only pull changed information from the phone making the GRPS data costs of performing the backups minimal.
Soon to be added features include back up of messages and downloaded content. This will mean that when a user purchases a new phone, they will be able to completely replicate the information on their new phone, even if that phone is a different make and/or model.
